DAY PORTER - FULL TIME

We are currently inviting applications for the full-time (1.0 FTE) position of a Day Porter. This position contributes to the school’s facilities department by providing routine cleaning of all school buildings.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for on-going routine cleaning of the interior of all school properties as listed in the Cleaning Schedule under the direction of the facilities staff

Inspection and stocking of student and staff washrooms throughout the day

Spot cleaning carpets throughout the schools as needed

Emergency or extra cleaning as required to support the janitorial team

Continual monitoring of buildings and grounds conditions to identify areas that require attention or may affect the safety of the students and staff

Bring maintenance items to the attention of the Director of Facilities or Facilities Coordinator for prioritizing

Assist with traffic duties as directed by Facilities staff

Assist with laundry as directed by Facilities staff on occasion

Assist with School function set-ups and fundraising events as directed

QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficiency with use of automated systems including work ticket systems, email and calendars (GSuite)

Excellent spoken and written communication skills

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment as well as a able to work collaboratively with minimum supervision and function well as part of a team

Observant and aware of what is happening in and around the school

Personable and professional manner when representing the school to parents, students, staff and outside contractors and suppliers

Reliable and dependable

Flexibility and willingness to work extra time for major school events

Able to lift 20lbs.
