Step into the role of Water Resources Engineer at AtkinsRéalis. Overview As part of AtkinsRéalis' Engineering Services group, the municipal infrastructure team specialises in delivering full‑range engineering services for infrastructure projects to local, national, and international clients. This position is based in Toronto, 100% in‑office, and involves working on a major Canadian airport project. Responsibilities Support planning for waste and circularity programmes, including terminal waste, outbuildings waste, construction waste, and circular construction. Support planning for water resilience programmes, including stormwater, water conservation, and water quality. Confirm proper handling, recycling, disposal, and removal of waste materials, including hazardous wastes, at construction sites. Confirm that designs consider self‑sustaining circular ecosystems and infrastructure requirements, water harnessing to support irrigation and stormwater management, innovative waste and pollution solutions, and overall carbon‑footprint reduction. Coordinate with Stakeholder Relations and Communications (SR&C) and external stakeholders on all areas of sustainability strategy. Confirm that the overall programme and design strategy includes all relevant sustainability requirements and responds to the principles of sustainable development, occupant lifestyle and well‑being. Confirm that the approach to the relevant works is consistent with the Canadian airport's vision and strategy for a sustainable, carbon‑positive, and environmentally friendly future. Coaching, mentoring, and supporting the career development of client staff. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the environment, energy, or sustainable design sector. Experience delivering sustainability outcomes in the infrastructure sector, with large complex programmes considered an asset. Holistic understanding of sustainability and Net Zero, with a particular interest in decarbonisation (Scope 1, 2, 3 emissions), climate risk assessment and management. Demonstrable understanding of sustainability/ESG and climate accounting, management, and disclosure standards and guidance. Demonstrable experience in sustainable resource management, materials efficiency and circular economy. Strong technical capability across all project phases and ability to solve complex problems using data analytics to support solution identification. Recognised degree in related engineering, planning or sustainability field and professional certification (PE, CEM, LEED AP, ENV SP).
