Position: MANUFACTURING ENGINEERINGShifts Available: Day Shift – 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (5 x 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday)Location: Owen Sound, ONMacLean Engineering & Marketing Co. Limited is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineeringto join our team at our Owen Sound, ON manufacturing facility. About the Position: The Manufacturing Engineering role is to be the liaison between Engineering and the Manufacturing teams with a focus on improving manufacturing processes to increase productivity and reduce costs as well as develop strategies for improving quality and reducing defects. The position will require proficient, correct, timely and safe execution of the following daily work tasks:Self-Starter capable of providing leadership, mentoring and guidance to MPE Team members. Assign tasks and duties to MPE Team members on behalf of the MPE Manager.Using SolidWorks, add manufacturing details to existing drawings, and to new designs, to outline the optimal manufacturing process for welding, machining, electrical / mechanical assembly, and paintJig, fixture, part and process design using SolidWorks or AutoCAD, and coordinating release into production with ECNLiaise with various internal and external groups to handle exceptions and constructively communicate resolutionIdentify and define incident-based & systematic problems, and implement temporary corrective actions & containmentAssess manufacturability & manufacturing structure for new products, existing products, insourcing and outsourcingAble to create and interpret complex / multi-discipline blueprintsCommunicate constructively, effectively and enthusiastically with all levels within the organization. Maintain a positive and professional attitude.Estimate timelines pertaining to manufacturing, rework, design, and other related activityStrictly follow safety requirements, including but not limited to wearing PPE, assessing hazards, & ensuring best practices are being followedDisplay strong written & verbal communication skills, particularly in the area of technical writingRespond to problems / exceptions and initiate NCR, interim actions, and containment.Coordinate containment in multiple facilities and branches as requiredAssess urgency and severity of issues and implement measurable and sustainable corrective actions. Complete detailed root cause analysis to identify areas where corrective actions and OFI’s can be implemented.Evaluate and communicate with Production group(s) & department Managers and work constructively to investigate root cause and determine corrective actions to implement effective change and error proofing to reduce risk of Operator Errors.Manage large projects pertaining to Product, Process, Capital Equipment, Systems, and other categories as assignedUpdate drawing details in SolidWorks & AutoCAD to provide clarity or specification, not including structural or functional detailsCreate & implement concise SOP and detailed Work Instructions within all departments as required concisely and audit for conformanceParticipate in Vendor auditing and re-sourcing as required. Effectively identify Root Cause and audit effectiveness of corrective actions. Attend vendor facilities as required to resolve issuesDevelop & Implement Quality Assurance programs within all processes to improve product quality and process quality performance.Audit SOP conformance at all levels of the organization and implement revisions as necessaryParticipate in / assist with CWB audits, including scheduling and reportingAssist in development and implementation of a fully integrated MQS.Independently & confidently assess manufacturability & apply routing structure and standard times accurately and independently within the PDM. Statistically analyze / adjust standard times as required & identify improvement opportunities for efficiency or consistencyPerform ECN revisions & process within PDM for approval & provide peer detail review prior to approval. Provide ECN approval as requested by Team LeaderProvide accurate Contract Manufacturing estimation & quotation & manage quoted product from initiation to completion & maintain accountability for quoted vs. actual resultIdentify improvement opportunities, present ROI to all levels of management, manage implementation, and measure results for significant cost reduction, quality / safety improvement, efficiency improvement, or other improvement categories as applicableCommunicate 'Operator Error' to Operator group(s) without confrontation and work constructively to accomplish correction and change culture as applicableCreate & implement drawing standards within MPE and consult with other peer groups to implement sameAssist Product Management group with Customer factory inspection visits.Effectively communicate updates, issues and OFI’s with other MPE Teams in other FacilitiesCapable of leading and implementing Lean/Agile Manufacturing practices.Participate and integrate in new product launch teams.Assist with plant layouts and material flow to ensure efficiency.Any other duties as assigned by the CompanyAbout You: The successful candidate has a positive attitude, is open minded, willing to learn and is flexible along with the following qualifications:Minimum High School Diploma or Certificate of CompletionTrade Certification in any recognized discipline would be an assetTraining / certification in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Project is an assetTraining / certification in Drawing / drafting Techniques, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow definition, Project Management, Planning & Scheduling, Manufacturing Estimating is an assetFive (5) + years’ Experience using SolidWorks or AutoCADFive (5) + years Hands on experience and exposure in a conventional Heavy Equipment Manufacturing environmentOr Eight (8)+ years’ Experience working in any Manufacturing or Industrial settingTrade experience in any Mechanical or Electrical discipline would be an assetExperience in ISO 9001 & CWB 47.1 backgroundAbout Us:MacLean Engineering has been a leading innovator of underground mining equipment solutions for almost 50 years.
