We foster a culture of civility by raising awareness, setting clear expectations, and continually reviewing our policies and practices to ensure respect is at the core of everything we do.Position SummaryReporting to the Manager, Department of Outpatient Mental Health and Addictions, you will be responsible to provide quality Occupational Therapy services congruent with the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO). The Occupational Therapist works as a member of the Early Psychosis Intervention interdisciplinary team in the engagement, assessment, treatment and transition planning to community supports for clients and their family. Practice will focus on the delivery of service in alignment with the Early Psychosis Intervention Ontario Network (EPION) standards and application of an anti-oppressive, person-centred model of care and recovery orientated and harm reduction approaches for persons with emerging and persistent metal illnesses.Primary ResponsibilitiesSafety (patient, worker & workplace) is a BCHS Corporate Priority. The successful applicant will demonstrate good stewardship in the identification, reporting and mitigation of unsafe acts or conditions.Mandatory QualificationsMaster of Science in Occupational TherapyRegistration in the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) in good standing.Core CompetenciesDemonstrated competency in providing services using an anti-oppressive approach as a member of an interdisciplinary team.Excellent working knowledge of related provincial legislation including Health Care Consent Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Public Hospitals Act, Community Treatment OrdersWorking knowledge of social supports including, Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP).Strong assessment skills, including the ability to take a comprehensive psychosocial history and mental status examination and cognitive assessments typically deliveredProven ability to manage competing demands and prioritize work in a time-sensitive environment.Proven ability to work in an empathic manner to engage hard to reach and marginalized populationsEvidence of ongoing professional developmentExcellent written, verbal and interpersonal skillsExcellent attendance recordSafety (patient, worker & workplace) is a BCHS Corporate Priority.
