Ware Malcomb has an exciting opportunity for an Interior Designer to join our team in Vaughan, ON

Interior Designers are responsible for a project from conceptual design to design development, including creating Conceptual and Schematic Design for interior design projects and presenting design options, including determining and meeting client goals and developing client relationships. You will remain “on-call” throughout the lifecycle of a project to provide design direction to the project team. In addition, you will be involved in VE, submittal review, construction documentation, consultant coordination and drawing set reviews.

Interior Designer Responsibilities:
  • Meet with clients to develop ongoing relationships and determine clients’ project goals.
  • Follow projects from inception through construction in order to maintain design quality and intent.
  • Conduct programming efforts such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, lighting and color coordination.
  • Prepares and conducts client presentations.
  • Responsible for selection and specification of furniture, lighting, flooring, wall covering and artwork. Estimates material requirements and preliminary costs.
  • Solicits bids and assists Project Manager and client in subcontracting fabrication, installation, and arrangement of the materials, finishes, and furnishings required.
  • Supports the Construction Administration phase responding to RFI’s, CO’s, and reviews shop drawings.
  • Advanced knowledge of building regulations and safety codes.
  • Keeping the project team on schedule and on budget while providing a cohesive design.
  • Implements and utilizes the best practices of Ware Malcomb for all projects and processes.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and direct junior staff in correctly documenting design.
  • May mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff and deliver staff performance evaluations.
  • Contributes in office activities and involved in design community organizations.
Interior Designer Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in Interior Architecture & Design, preferably in Retail Design
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture
  • Registered Interior Designer (ARIDO) and NCIDQ Certified strongly preferred
  • Very strong conceptual design skills
  • Experience preparing CD working drawings; permit/tender and coordinating MEP and Structural disciplines.
  • Strong AutoCAD skills and preferred Revit skills
