Position Overview: As a Patent Lawyer at Mira, you will play a crucial role in managing and protecting our intellectual property portfolio related to in vitro diagnostic technologies. You will work closely with our R&D teams, legal department, and external patent counsel to develop and execute strategies for patent acquisition, enforcement, and litigation. strong>

  • Patent Strategy Development: Develop and implement strategies for patent protection and portfolio management in alignment with the company's business objectives and innovation pipeline.
  • Patent Preparation and Prosecution: Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications related to in vitro diagnostic technologies, ensuring robust and enforceable intellectual property rights.
  • IP Portfolio Management: Manage and oversee the company’s patent portfolio, including conducting periodic reviews, assessments, and strategic planning to enhance the value and scope of our IP assets.
  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research and analysis of patent-related issues, including freedom-to-operate studies, patentability assessments, and infringement analyses.
  • Collaboration with R&D Teams: Work closely with research and development teams to understand new technologies, provide legal guidance on patent-related matters, and identify opportunities for patent protection.
  • Patent Litigation and Enforcement: Handle or oversee patent litigation matters, including coordinating with external counsel, managing litigation strategies, and enforcing patent rights against infringers.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Issues: Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to patenting and intellectual property, and advise on regulatory issues impacting patent strategy.
  • Training and Awareness: Provide training and guidance to internal teams on intellectual property matters, including patent policies, procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school, with admission to the bar in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in patent law, with a focus on in vitro diagnostics or related biomedical technologies. Experience in managing patent portfolios and handling patent litigation is highly desirable.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of in vitro diagnostic technologies, biomedical engineering, or related fields, with the ability to grasp complex technical concepts.
  • Proficiency in patent prosecution and litigation processes.
Preferred: Advanced degree in a scientific or engineering discipline related to in vitro diagnostics is a plus.
