Mortgage Underwriter

to join the

Asian Markets team

You can be based anywhere in the

Western Region . Opportunity for cross training within the mortgage residential team.

Day to day, the Mortgage Underwriter will review residential mortgage applications and assess according to current regulations and Manulife Bank policies.

This area has the responsibility of assessing credit risk of mortgage applications. This includes a financial debt service analysis, review of all documentation to support the application and appraisal reports. This area works directly with our sales partners and is responsible to answer credit related and file submission questions.

*This is a full-time Work from Home position.

Position Responsibilities:
Review documents submitted by sales partners to identify and decision whether documents adhere to internal guidelines.
Ensure files are properly documented for reporting.
Excellent communication skills with our sales partners.
Ability to process a high work volume of files with attention to detail which involves multi-tasking, efficiently organizing and prioritizing workflows.
Manage the underwriting of residential mortgage applications. Exercise sound financial judgment in granting loans within delegated limits.
Manage your files with appropriate communication while working closely with the salesperson associated with the file.
Manage service daily to ensure Standards are met and/or exceeded.
Interact with sales partners and other Bank departments to identify, resolve, and respond to issues as they arise.

Required Qualifications:
3-5 years of Mortgage Underwriting experience. Mortgage underwriting knowledge is a requirement.
Knowledge of Asian Markets.
Experience of High Net Worth or Private banking.
Two years' experience in the financial industry.
Strong attention to detail.
Strong customer service and decisioning skills.
Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and handle several tasks simultaneously.
Excellent written and communication skills.
Sound knowledge of banking systems.
Identify and solve issues requiring a high degree of judgment and recommend solutions.
Overtime during peak season is a requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingualism in English/Mandarin is an asset.

Salary range is expected to be between
$51,375.00 CAD - $85,625.00 CAD
