Your role Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and assessment, structural design, and ageing management. Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry and prepare design documents and compile engineering packages. Analyze structural systems and elements as required using analysis software programs including ANSYS, SAP2000, ACS SASSI and other structural programs. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and regulations, and ensure the adequacy of design for permits and compliance with approved plans. Develop conceptual design, preliminary design and detailed design. Prepare technical specification documents. Accountable for delivering all engineering deliverables/tasks to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets. Provide technical instructions to junior staff or designers to develop engineering documentation. Review and comment on the work performed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation. Check the work performed meets the quality requirements in accordance with Company QA programs and manuals. Participate in formal engineering design and other reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question. Prepare engineering estimates and technical write‑up for proposals. Perform plant walkdowns as and if required in support of design requirements definition and detailed engineering of design modifications. About You Civil Engineering degree from an accredited university. Master’s degree and above is desired. Deep and thorough understanding of structural analysis and seismic analysis. Must have thorough knowledge of use of finite element analysis software. Must have experience with seismic analysis of structures and foundations. Adequate knowledge of established nuclear QA guidelines, procedures and practices is preferable. Adequate knowledge of applicable nuclear safety codes and regulations is an asset. Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International codes and standards used in civil/structural engineering. Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment. Eligible to be licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada. Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario. Ability to manage to work effectively under tight schedules and budget. Eligible for security clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
