Installs, configures, and upgrades LINUX/UNIX software to support administrative, teaching and research activities in a complex software tree to support multiple versions and operating systems.Install, configure, upgrade and secure the Faculty’s web servers.Install, configure and maintain required databases to support administrative, teaching and research activities.Install, configure and maintain the LINUX/UNIX print servers. Maintains SAMBA for Windows/MacOS printing. Recommends and helps departments purchase new printers.Maintain the LINUX license servers. Adds/removes licenses as needed. Manage teaching vs research licenses for software.Troubleshoot LINUX/UNIX software related issues.Ensure that procedures for technical staff and end-users are documented.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with 4-7 years of relevant work experience. Experience working in a university environment is an asset.Very good spoken and written English (Level 4) and basic spoken French (level 3).Advanced knowledge and experience with NetApp appliances or other data storage systems.Advanced knowledge of and experience in system administration on large scale installation of servers and workstations running under Linux (or any other UNIX operating system).Advanced knowledge of and experience in setting up and maintaining databases.Knowledge of compiling software in a heterogeneous environment.Concordia University is an English-language institution of higher learning at which the primary language of instruction and research is English. Since this position supports academic and administrative functions of the university, proficiency in English and French, as indicated, is required.Immigration Status
