We have now completed our pivotal clinical study and our focus is on regulatory approvals and commercial launch. This is an exciting and significant milestone in our journey to bring this ground-breaking technology to patients.

We are seeking a Systems Engineer – Software to develop and take ownership of software requirements, collaborating with teams across multiple domains to produce technical descriptions of the software systems and produce a complete set of requirements appropriate for regulatory audiences.

Please note, this opportunity is a hybrid work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

What you'll be doing

As a Systems Engineer - Software, you will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary engineering team, working with the software, regulatory, UX, and risk management teams. Your daily activities will center around performing software requirements management and supporting product design and development. Your core responsibilities will include:

  1. Perform requirements analysis with input from Product Management, UX, and Research for new and updated software features.
  2. Work closely with the Software Development team at the architecture and design level to determine requirements that are achievable within the scope of the current release.
  3. Write and maintain software requirements and structure to satisfy user needs, regulatory compliance, and risk.
  4. Contribute to the development and implementation of software test and verification protocols.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software requirements are clear, concise, and practicable.

The Systems Engineering team is flexible and affords the opportunity to work in other interest areas such as human factors/usability, and gain deeper insights into product management, risk analysis, and software development.

You will be successful in this role because you possess these attributes:

  1. Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science.
  2. Broad experience with Software and Electrical systems design.
  3. Experience drafting software requirements and specifications.
  4. Understanding of IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.
  5. Understanding of the software development life cycle, ideally for medical products.
  6. Excellent written and verbal communication and technical documentation skills.
  7. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

Compensation

Kardium has listed the total cash compensation range (base salary + 5% RRSP contribution) that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. For candidates with more or less experience than listed above, the pay range will be adjusted.

As a permanent employee, you will also participate in Kardium's stock option plan.

Salary Range: $76,000 - $98,000 (CAD Annually)

Total cash – the total cash we've listed for this position includes a base salary, plus a contribution to a Registered Retirement Savings plans (RRSP) to help support your financial goals.
