Job Description About PDHG: Portage District General Hospital is an 88‑bed regional centre serving over 50,000 residents, including a significant First Nations population. A new health centre is scheduled to open in early 2026, featuring expanded emergency treatment areas, dedicated mental health rooms, increased ambulatory care spaces, a cultural space, three operating suites, and 114 inpatient beds. Position Summary We are seeking a committed and collaborative Physician Assistant (PA) or Clinical Assistant (Cl.A) to join our Hospitalist team. This role focuses on providing care to adult inpatients across acute medical, surgical, and rehabilitation wards. The successful candidate will work closely with hospitalist physicians and contribute to medical education through the Family Medicine Residency Program. Key Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive inpatient care, including assessments, treatment planning, and chronic disease management. Assist with daily rounds and discharge planning on medical, surgical, and rehab units. Conduct daytime hospital admissions and documentation. Perform procedures such as thoracentesis and paracentesis within scope of practice. Support clinical teaching and mentorship for Family Medicine residents. Collaborate with interprofessional teams to ensure safe, coordinated care. Foster strong relationships with staff, consultants, administrators, and patients/families. Qualifications Graduate of a CPSM‑approved PA program or registered Clinical Assistant. Eligible for national certification and CPSM registration. Commitment to ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Ability to work respectfully in a culturally diverse environment. Strong physical and mental capacity to meet job demands. Proven confidentiality and professionalism. Good work and attendance record. Schedule Daytime shifts, may include some weekends and statutory holidays. Why Join Us?
