Attendance Support Specialist Permanent Full-time - 35 Hours Per Week - Monday to Friday - 12 month Position (1.0 FTE) Salary range: $86,645 to $98,460 Start date: January 2026; Duration: Permanent The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board is seeking a permanent full-time Attendance Support Specialist to lead the development, implementation and administration of the Board’s Attendance Support Program. Reporting to the Manager of Human Resource Services, and working collaboratively within the Human Resources Services Department, the Attendance Support Specialist provides training, support and guidance to employees, Supervisors, Administrators and Senior Administration to ensure that the program is implemented fairly and consistently. The Attendance Support Specialist is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and managing the administration of the employee attendance support program, while providing case management support for employees with attendance concerns. The incumbent will monitor absence statistics, provide guidance and coaching to staff and supervisors, and use data analysis to identify trends and implement strategies that improve attendance and connect employees with appropriate wellness resources. This role works closely with managers, administrators, union representatives and the Wellness and Abilities team to promote regular attendance and support employee well‑being. REPORTS TO: Manager of Human Resource Services WORK LOCATION(S) AND WORK TIME(S) Central office of the Board PREREQUISITES FOR POSITION University degree in Human Resources, Disability Management, Occupational Health, or related field. 4 or more years of related experience in attendance support, disability management, human resources, or case management. CHRP, CDMP or CRTWC designation required. Commitment to continuous professional development in disability management and/or HR. School board or public sector experience considered an asset. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, supervisors, and union representatives. Proven analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Proficiency with HRIS systems, attendance tracking software, Parklane and Microsoft Office applications. Thorough understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety Insurance Act, Employment Standards Act, as well as other related legislation KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS Lead the development, implementation, and administration of the Board’s Attendance Support Program, ensuring consistent and equitable application across all schools and departments. Monitor, analyze, and interpret employee attendance data to identify trends, patterns, and areas requiring proactive intervention. Administer and maintain accurate, confidential records within the Attendance Support Program database, ensuring data integrity and compliance with privacy standards. Provide comprehensive case management support to employees, including facilitating return‑to‑work and accommodation plans in collaboration with Human Resources, management, and union representatives. Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, managers, and union representatives regarding attendance‑related matters, ensuring consistent and professional communication of program expectations. Conduct meetings with employees to discuss attendance concerns, provide coaching and guidance, and connect individuals with appropriate wellness and support resources (e.g., Employee Assistance Program). Advise and coach principals, managers and supervisors on attendance and sick leave management, ensuring alignment with Board policies, collective agreements, and applicable legislation (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code). Liaise with Payroll Services and other internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy of attendance and pay records, and to address any related discrepancies. Liaise with Wellness and Abilities team to develop and implement Board‑wide return‑to‑work strategies. Liaise with insurers, medical professionals, and legal counsel as it relates to attendance support. Prepare and present regular attendance reports, dashboards, and analyses to senior management to support strategic decision‑making. Design and present Board‑level statistical reports with recommendations. Contribute to the development and delivery of training materials and resources to enhance understanding and consistent application of attendance management practices. Participate in meetings, committees, and projects related to attendance support and employee wellness, as required. Monitor and review the Attendance Support Program to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and ensure alignment with organizational goals and best practices. Develop training modules and guidelines related to Attendance Support for Principals, Managers and staff. Design and deliver training for all Principals, Managers and Supervisors on attendance management, difficult conversations, and legislative compliance related to attendance support. Provide guidance to principals and managers on attendance‑related progressive discipline, consistent application of the Attendance Support Program and collective agreement provisions. Participate in preliminary labour relations investigations when the issue relates to attendance. Review and revise policies related to Attendance Support. Collaborate with Wellness & Abilities to design targeted attendance‑related wellness initiatives, including preventative strategies for high‑risk employee groups. Assist with disability management on an occasional basis, which may include monitoring LTD and WSIB claims, preparing accurate documentation of medical information and absence data and researching and preparing information for WSIB claims Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Human Resource Services.
