Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada Safe Fleet Full time

Meet the Smart Safety Company

At Safe Fleet, our name says it all. We make fleet vehicles – and everyone in and around them – safer. Our fleet safety platform brings together best-in-class products, ground-breaking technology, and a 100-year history of fleet know-how and innovation to solve the world's biggest fleet safety problems.

Our core value is safety. Without safety first, efficiency and productivity are not possible. This is true for our products, our culture, and our relationship with our community. Our vision is to reduce preventable deaths and injuries in and around fleet vehicles with a goal of ZERO accidents.

We are re-defining what safety means for fleets of every type – from school buses to waste collection trucks, firefighting to utility vehicles, police cruisers to delivery vans.

Whether you work in our Charlotte plant to build life-saving stop arms for school buses, or design advanced camera vision products in our Vancouver office, forge valves and high-quality nozzles to fight fires, or dream up new ways to protect fleet operators in our Corporate HQ in Kansas City, you'll contribute to our goal to keep everyone safe.

We are a fast-growing manufacturing, service, and technology company with over 1700 employees in over 15 locations across Canada and the US. We're looking for motivated self-starters with innovative thinking to join our team and help us achieve our growth and performance goals. Sound like you?

Job Summary

As the Platform Engineering Lead at SafeFleet, you will hold a high-impact role within the company, leading and architecting the platform infrastructure to support our extensive cloud product offerings. This role demands deep expertise in managing diverse cloud engineering projects across Operations, Infrastructure, DevOps, and Security. You will be responsible for architecting cloud solutions and ensuring that deployed software and environments are optimized for peak performance. Your leadership will drive the DevSecOps culture across all phases of development, from initial design through production, ensuring our cloud infrastructure supports the scalability and security demands.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute projects, ensuring that your team has appropriate technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver the tasks effectively by establishing realistic estimates for timelines while ensuring that projects remain on target to meet deadlines.
  • Keep the team on track by proactively identifying project, people, and organizational problems and providing well-thought-out solutions before issues become delays.
  • Engage with the Software Engineering and Product teams to understand their priorities and requirements.
  • Design processes and procedures to help support a growing team, ensuring consistency with quality across the board.
  • Continuously influence the team to adopt new processes and tools that support the DevSecOps culture.
  • Continuously improve our product deployment automation and monitoring capabilities.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Salary: $100,000 to $125,000/yr

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud engineering, with strong, obligatory expertise in Azure, and a proven track record in a leadership or technical lead role.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, and PowerShell, with proven experience developing solutions using these technologies.
  • Deep knowledge of both relational (MSSQL, MySQL, Postgres) and non-relational databases (MongoDB).
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment, employing tools and practices to maintain a robust deployment pipeline.
  • Strong project management skills and familiarity with Scrum methodologies, able to lead projects and ensure that the team meets its short and long-term goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of clearly articulating complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders, fostering a transparent and inclusive team environment.
  • An innate curiosity and a strong desire to understand how complex systems integrate and function together.
  • Ability to work independently from their manager, taking initiative and driving projects to completion without direct supervision.
