Position Overview We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our innovative engineering team. In this role, you will lead the development of fully automated plastic recycling systems, working closely with management and other engineers to design, implement, and optimize new processes. You will be responsible for managing your own projects, ensuring all milestones are met, and providing regular updates to management. This position requires strong technical design skills, a commitment to quality, and adherence to established EFS design standards. Beyond the technical scope, you'll play an active role in supporting management to build a motivated, high-performing engineering team dedicated to advancing sustainable manufacturing solutions. Key Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical equipment and system layouts for fully automated plastic recycling systems. Collaborate with project engineers and production teams to ensure equipment meets performance, safety, and quality standards. Create 3D models, detailed drawings, and assemblies using CAD software. Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), product documentation, and manufacturing instructions. Support the development of new processes and equipment improvements for enhanced efficiency and automation. Perform engineering calculations for stress, load, and system performance to ensure efficient designs. Maintain design documentation in line with company standards and engineering best practices. Develop specifications for new equipment, get quotations and negotiate terms and costs. Provide technical input during fabrication, installation, and commissioning stages. Drive continuous improvements in engineering processes, methodologies, and best practices to enhance productivity and efficiency. Manage your projects and report weekly status to Management. Qualifications University degree in Mechanical Engineering / Technologist. 3+ years of experience in equipment or machinery design, ideally in plastics, recycling, waste processing industries. Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Solid background in machine design as it relates to material handling systems. Excellent grasp of fundamental mechanical engineering concepts, manufacturing methods, materials selection and relationships. Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision. Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. French language an asset.
