About Us The Keno Hill mine is located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory. Keno Hill is one of the highest‑grade silver districts in the world, situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, and lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na‑Cho Nyak Dun. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. Keno Hill is seeking new team members committed to professional growth and success. Responsibilities The core duties of the position include: Respect, know, and promote regulation and policies with regards to health and safety. Logging of definition and grade‑control diamond drill core, including collection of drill core recovery and structural data, alteration/mineralisation, and host‑rock descriptions. Ensure accurate entry of data into the geology database. Adhere to established drill core sampling and QA/QC procedures. Prepare samples for shipment to the laboratory as per Hecla’s procedures. Assist with daily tracking of underground drilling progress. Prepare interpretive geological cross‑sections and level plans integrating lithological, structural, historic mapping, and drilling data. Support planning and implementation of the annual underground drilling program. Support ore‑grade control procedures as needed. Build and maintain strong working knowledge of relevant software packages including: Deswik, Leapfrog, GeoSpark, acQuire and Microsoft Office Suite. Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to underground mapping and chip sampling. Promote a strong environmental culture, teaching environmentally friendly values and work practices. Foster a strong safety culture, promoting and exemplifying safe work practices throughout the organisation. Be part of a reliable, supportive team. Qualifications Desired candidate will possess: Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from a recognised Canadian university or equivalent. Legally entitled to work in Canada. Physically capable of standing for extended periods and moving core boxes. Minimum of 1 year diamond drill core logging experience. Experience in the geology of narrow‑vein precious metals and underground mining environment is considered an asset. Collaborative team player within multidisciplinary teams. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Registered as, or able to be registered as, Geologist in Training. Experience with Leapfrog, GeoSpark, acQuire, and MS Office Suite is considered an asset. Strong oral and written communication skills. Valid Class 5 driver’s licence. Pre‑Employment Requirements Candidates must complete: Pre‑employment testing (drug & alcohol, blood lead, audiogram). Valid Class 5 driver’s licence. Clean driver’s abstract. Use and maintenance of PPE. Reporting incidents and cooperating in investigations. Participation in risk assessment methodology and safety initiatives. Work Environment Employees will regularly be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, hazardous wildlife, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, explosives, electrical shock risk, vibration and occasional loud noise. Work Location & Schedule This is a fly‑in/fly‑out position based at a remote mining camp, operating on a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off. Camp accommodations and meals are provided while on site. All travel to and from the mine site is arranged through a designated travel agency and coordinated with approved flight hubs. Candidates primarily from Yukon, British Columbia and Alberta, especially near major transport hubs, are preferred.
