Under general supervision, the Clinic Nurse is assigned to the Detroit Health Department Clinic and outreaches as assigned. The nurse is responsible for administering vaccines to children, adolescents, and adults, and collecting blood samples for lead screening and confirmation.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assess and administer vaccines according to Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) guidelines.
  2. Store and handle vaccines according to the MDHHS guidelines.
  3. Provide evidence-based vaccine education and aftercare of immunizations.
  4. Assist with vaccine management activities.
  5. Attend MDHHS trainings and keep up to date on vaccine modules used for trainings.
  6. Perform lead screening and confirmation testing per DHD guidelines.
  7. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  8. Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills required.
  9. Ability to work well with state personnel, healthcare professionals, and the general public.
Minimum Requirements:

Completion of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Preferably one (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital or clinic setting.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  1. Associate’s degree in nursing.
  2. Three years of hospital or community-based experience preferred.
  3. Pediatric immunization experience preferred.

  1. Interview: 70%
  2. Evaluation of Training, Experience & Personal Qualifications (T.E.P.): 30%
  3. Total Interview and Evaluation of (T.E.P.): 100%
