Position Overview This position involves maintaining the cleanliness of the facility through high dusting, damp dusting, dust mopping, wet and dry mopping, vacuuming, carpet cleaning, floor stripping and refinishing, and waste handling. Experience Minimum of one-year experience as a housekeeping cleaner in an institutional, commercial, or healthcare facility. Training will be provided. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Grade 12 or equivalent. Certification/Licensure/Registration Not Applicable. Qualifications And Skills Working knowledge of applicable sanitation and safety standards related to the department. Observe all aspects of resident safety at all times. Ability to learn and apply proper body mechanics, including bending, stooping, kneeling, stretching over and under furnishings, and building fixtures. Ability to work from and climb stepladders. Maintain a high standard of service and cleanliness. Demonstrated ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing. Physical Requirements May involve exposure to disease, toxic materials, noise, allergens, blood, feces, body fluids, etc. May encounter aggressive and/or agitated individuals. Performing physical activities that require use of arms and legs, including bending, lifting, balancing, walking, and stooping. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
