Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography and one (1) year recent, related experience in radiology procedures or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level. About Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre is a 280-bed regional hospital in Fraser Health’s integrated network of care, and provides primary, secondary, and some specialty services, including 24/7 emergency (including two critical care trauma bays and a helipad for emergency transport of critical patients), tier three maternity and neonatal intensive care services, adult psychiatry inpatient units, surgical specialties (e.g., vascular, orthopedic), nuclear medicine, a sleep lab and ambulatory care. Abbotsford Regional Hospital also offers a range of inpatient services supported by community services (e.g., home health, public health, community mental health, etc). Responsibilities Performs examinations in CT and radiography, completing requisitions, correlating clinical history, ensuring patient identification, positioning, explaining procedures, performing venipuncture for contrast media injections, operating equipment, labeling records, and checking technical results. Monitors patient during procedures, observes and responds to possible contrast media reactions or other emergent situations, may perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation if necessary. Facilitates workflow of designated work area, checks requisition information, arranges porters as needed. Performs quality control duties such as scheduling and performing equipment tests, recording results and identifying malfunctioning equipment for repair. Maintains designated work area, cleans equipment, sets up examination trays, stocks supplies, notifies supervisor of purchases. Demonstrates procedures and equipment usage to staff, participates in orientation of new employees and supervision of students. Responds to inquiries from other clinical areas, refers concerns to appropriate supervisor. Ensures Health and Safety rules, regulations and practices are met such as Fire, Disaster, WHMIS, Smart Moves and Infection Control. Participates in program enhancements, quality improvement, protocol development, and provides input as a member on hospital committees where medical imaging representation is required. Participates in approved research and special projects in collaboration with Supervisor and other health care professionals as required. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements, reports unsafe situations immediately. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Training and Experience Certification with the CAMRT. Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography and one (1) year recent, related experience in radiology procedures or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Skills and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations. Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to designated modality. Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including safe work procedures with modality equipment. Demonstrated knowledge of current General Radiography and CT theory and practices within a client/family centered model of care. Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with medical imaging equipment. Demonstrated knowledge of research process and methodology. Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/radiology information systems, i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval. Demonstrated ability to work with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others. Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others. Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques. Demonstrated computer skills with current computer applications. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
