Description Reporting to the Lead Intellectual Property & Contract Compliance, the Specialist Intellectual Property and Compliance is responsible for providing essential support in the production and delivery of projects covering a wide breadth of commercial and contractual matters. This includes documentation management, contractual compliance, intellectual property requirements, coordinating compliance efforts, overseeing security and controlled goods reporting, risk assessment, communication facilitation, and assisting with training and awareness programs. Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement. What you’ll do Performs project document reviews and collaborates with document authors to establish accurate IP characterization and IP markings. Facilitates the training plan for subcontractors to ensure project compliance with IP marking procedures and data capture where applicable. Assists in the development and ongoing maintenance of the Intellectual Property Management Tool supporting improvements (incl. potential use of AI) and updates to enhance usability and compliance tracking. Collaborates and assists in contractual and regulatory compliance audits to maintain the highest standards of compliance. Supports compliance processes applicable to security and controlled goods to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements. Assists in audits related to contractual and regulatory compliance. Maintains Power BI dashboards for IP Team Apps ensuring control plans are in place and users are actively using the tools to improve IP compliance across documents. Identifies and communicates issues to immediate supervisors relevant business areas and external partners to ensure seamless alignment on compliance-related matters. Contributes to the identification and assessment of potential compliance risks and collaborates on strategies for risk mitigation. Maintains a strong understanding of the company’s processes for day-to-day affairs and ensures compliance with processes such as contract approval, timesheet recording, and performance reporting. Performs additional duties as assigned. What you’ll bring University degree or certificate in business administration, legal, or paralegal field. Minimum 5 years of progressive work experience in document management and contract review and process automation with a proven track record of successfully handling diverse types of contracts. Experience in project management, contract management or compliance-related roles with a paralegal background demonstrating expertise in research, legal, and compliance matters. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with legal teams, project stakeholders, and external partners across different contract categories. Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail honed through hands‑on experience with legal research, drafting memorandums, documentation management, records review and collection, and managing projects. Proficiency in document management and reporting tools (Power BI, MS Suite) including experience with legal software and compliance tracking systems tailored to various contract types. Familiarity with intellectual property laws and security regulations is a plus, underscoring a comprehensive understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks across diverse contract categories. Must be able to secure a Canadian Government (CISD) Personal Security Clearance and controlled goods registration. Customer service focus. Good judgment and reasoning skills. The estimated salary for this position is $99,000 – $121,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful candidate’s skill set and experience as well as position location and internal equity.
