The position can be based in any of our British Columbia offices and provides opportunities to work on all three of Canada’s marine coastlines. The successful candidate will work with multi-disciplinary teams and contribute to environmental assessments and applications for Fisheries Act authorizations. Tasks vary from project to project and broadly include planning and directing field work, leading data analysis and reporting, proposal development, and engaging with clients, DFO and First Nations. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment, then Stantec is a great place to grow your careerYour Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, lead, and manage marine field programsAssemble, analyze and manage marine datasetsLead development of Fisheries Act authorization applications, including developing offsetsLead environmental effects/impact assessments for proposed marine infrastructureManage marine tasks or projects according to the approved scope of work, schedule and budgetSupport engagement with clients, regulators and First NationsProvide mentoring and leadership to junior and intermediate staffParticipate in business development opportunities and proposal developmentYour Capabilities and CredentialsA strong commitment to health and safetyProven technical, communication, writing, and organization skillsFamiliarity with British Columbia’s marine ecologyStrong knowledge of the Fisheries Act and DFO policiesExperience preparing environmental assessments, preferably in British ColumbiaExperience leading field crews in accordance with health and safety protocolsEducation and ExperienceMinimum Bachelor of Science degree in biology, a post‑graduate degree is a benefit10+ years of relevant work experienceR.P.Bio. professional designation, or ability to become registeredMarine related safety training and/or certificates will be an assetConsulting experience is requiredStantec has a standard 37.5 hour work week. The typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods. Fieldwork may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather and/or variable sea conditions. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
