  • Establish and oversee the development and implementation of lending standards and administrative processes to provide a consistent level of customer service to credit unions and their members.
  • Within regulatory guidelines, establish and implement appropriate management policies, procedures, and parameters that ensure consistent portfolio profitability within acceptable risk tolerances.
  • Work with the credit unions to originate and underwrite new commercial loans, deliver commercial lending services to the credit unions and their members, and perform general business development duties in their specified region.
  • Coordinate financial analysis and presentation materials on loan requests and work with the host credit union and their members to ensure all requisite information is on hand to complete loan reviews.
  • Develop marketing strategies and materials that promote Central's capabilities in commercial and mortgage lending and services to its member credit unions, member co-operatives, other affiliated organizations, and business entities.

What you'll have:

  • A college or university degree in finance or a related field – business administration, accounting, economics etc. – or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 10-12 years commercial real estate lending experience in a business development role in the financial services industry.
  • Strong technical background in underwriting real estate credits in the large project financing market. Demonstrated ability to source new business and negotiate credit facilities that adhere to the risk parameters and pricing requirements of Central and the Credit Unions.
  • Demonstrated success in creating and implementing sound business development strategies with clearly defined revenue growth and profitability objectives.
  • Well-developed leadership, mentoring, and general management skills acquired in a commercial lending/sales environment.
  • Prior experience in leading, motivating, and mentoring a team of qualified account managers to realize business objectives in a regulated and structured environment.
  • Assumes the local presence and accountability for Central's commercial lending department in the designated portfolio.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support to credit union lenders and senior management in credit-granting and loan portfolio analysis and management.
  • Maintain an open dialogue with member credit unions to ensure appropriate standards are maintained and continue to reflect the changing business circumstances and risk appetite of both Central and its members.
  • Provide direct consulting services to individual credit unions on their members' loan requirements.
  • Develop and manage relationships with other strategic partners and/or other financial institutions.
