QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Social Work, Social Services, or equivalent. 2–3 years of relevant experience in advocacy, networking, facilitation, community development, volunteer management and working with self‑advocates and families/individuals with developmental disabilities. Software competency including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher. Ability to learn new systems, such as Mailchimp and Google Surveys. Knowledge of developmental services, social policy and familiarity with service navigation (person‑directed planning, Passport funding, Special Services at Home funding, DSO intake processes, supported living, fee‑for‑service options, educational supports, children’s services, respite, volunteer opportunities, community development, employment opportunities and services, social recreation programs, family supports, and ODSP). JOB SUMMARY The Community Engagement Coordinator serves as a point of contact for families, volunteers and community members navigating the Developmental Services sector. Responsible for helping mobilize self‑advocates and the broader community to advocate for CLTO priorities, such as improved services, housing and poverty reduction. Assists with building relationships with local networks and influencers, such as elected officials and other not‑for‑profit leaders. Supports membership‑based volunteer councils in community to build relationships with local leaders and the broader community. The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, screening, selecting, training and coordinating volunteers. RESPONSIBILITIES Advocacy, Engagement, Outreach – Lead the creation of community engagement strategies for community events, outreach and partnerships. Coordinate and attend Information Fairs (e.g., Developmental Services Information Fairs, Schools, Community Agencies, Cultural Services Organizations, Hubs) to present and distribute information about the Developmental Services sector and Community Living Toronto. Social Media Strategy and Supervision – Overall support of self‑advocate endeavors and serve as lead for ongoing United Way commitments, including annual fundraising campaign. Facilitate inclusion within educational settings for children and youth. Council Administration – Support Community Council initiatives, organize meetings and activities, as well as hold budget accountabilities. Volunteer Coordination – Recruit, screen, select, orientate and supervise volunteers while ensuring compliance with the Volunteer policies and procedures of Community Living Toronto. Subject Matter Expertise – Hold responsibility for a particular subject matter area and most/all activities and work attached to it. Marketing CLTO Membership to the Broader Community – Promote CLTO membership and engage a wider audience to increase community involvement. System Navigation – Meet with families, actively listen and provide support, assist with system navigation, referrals, finding resources, completing funding request forms and applications.
