About the Job Our client is a Canadian-based, publicly traded energy company with an international focus and a growing, diversified asset portfolio across multiple sectors. Position Overview The Manager of Financial Reporting will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and analysis of consolidated financial statements in accordance with IFRS. This role requires a strong understanding of IFRS, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively mentor finance teams in several international locations on corporate accounting policies and processes. This individual will also develop and maintain internal controls and procedures to support financial reporting, performance and risk management of the Company’s operating activities and capital projects. The ideal candidate must anticipate upcoming needs and challenges in a fast-growing company, interface with a variety of stakeholders both inside and outside the company, and possess a strong understanding of accounting software optimization, particularly in streamlining processes and improving reporting systems. Experience in managing financial reporting for international operations and a deep understanding of global financial and tax regulations are essential. The Financial Reporting Manager will report directly to the Director of Finance. Key Responsibilities Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely consolidated financial statements in compliance with IFRS Accounting Standards. Coordinate and manage the annual audit and quarterly interim review processes, including liaising with the external auditors and preparing requested work papers and financial analysis. Develop, implement, and monitor robust internal controls to ensure financial integrity, safeguard company assets, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. Assist with the annual evaluation of the design and operating effectiveness of the Company’s internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring that financial processes are efficient and transparent. Create and implement financial reporting policies and procedures as the Company expands into new business opportunities and develops its diverse international asset portfolio. Prepare multi-currency financial reporting and consolidation. Monitor and report on financial performance of international subsidiaries. Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and comprehensive financial reporting. Lead the implementation and integration of new accounting software systems to enhance financial reporting accuracy and efficiency. Mentor a team of international financial analysts and accountants, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Collaborate with external tax advisors to develop and implement effective tax strategies across multiple countries ensuring compliance with tax regulations, international transfer pricing implications and optimizing tax efficiencies for new development projects. Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met for both domestic and international operations. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce or equivalent, along with CPA designation. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial reporting, preferably in a public company with international operations with energy focused operating activities. Demonstrated ability to drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities, and meeting complex deadlines with precision. Proven success in collaborating across departments and driving cross-functional initiatives to achieve organizational objectives. In-depth knowledge of IFRS. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate financial information effectively. Proven team management skills with a track record of building high performing teams. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. Experience with software implementation projects is highly desirable.
