Under the direction of the of the Museum Director (a military member), the Museum Curator is the primary staff member, responsible for overseeing all museum operations. The Museum Curator works closely with volunteers to manage all public-facing and administrative tasks of the museum. This role includes: coordinating museum collections management tasks (following acquisition procedures, entering and maintaining database entries, ensuring basic preventative conservation and proper artifact handling), organizing displays and exhibitions, delivering programming to a diverse audience, responding to research requests, organizing or performing community outreach activities, managing volunteers, and the overall administrative management of the museum. QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Museology, Art History or in a related field AND some years of experience in a related field. Experience In use of automated collections management systems In digital imaging In historical research In budget administration In personnel administration, as required In publications covering the history of the Canadian Armed Force, an asset In promotion and advertising In preparing and obtaining grants from various Departments
