Senior Manager, Maintenance and Technical Services

Senior Manager, Maintenance and Technical Services Reporting to the Director, Operations, the Senior Manager, Maintenance and Technical Services is responsible for managing the effective delivery of engineering services and maintenance services to operations, ensuring equipment reliability and functionality, and supporting uptime and productivity targets. The role oversees the maintenance team in carrying out predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance of plant equipment, ensuring short‑term and long‑term operational plans, objectives, requirements, and standards are met while achieving cost, health & safety, environment, quality, and human resources objectives. Key Accountabilities Provides leadership to the maintenance team, aligning with national maintenance programmes and ensuring efficient day‑to‑day operation of the facility and all equipment. Identifies and manages asset reliability risks that could cause stoppages and adverse impact plant or business operations. Leads and directs equipment criticality assessments, critical spares analyses, and failure root cause analyses. Facilitates fact‑based and data‑driven decision making through effective utilisation of RCA, TPM/AM, RCM, RAMS, LCAM, and FMEA analyses. Provides subject‑matter expertise on new equipment purchases to ensure maintainability and reliability. Key contributor for new equipment selection, FATs, and reliability metrics during commissioning. Champions asset standardisation throughout the facility and supports the development and execution of the annual CAPEX programme. Develops standard processes for corrective action plans that improve asset care. Champions the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and implements improvements and upgrades to ensure efficient and effective use of resources. Promotes safety and a safe work environment for all employees and contractors. Provides technical expertise and leadership to improve predictive and condition‑based maintenance activities. Improves MRO inventory control through cycle counting and identification of critical spare parts. Establishes reliability and work‑planning metrics/KPIs to monitor performance and improvement (PM/CM ratio, MTBF, MTTR, etc.). Fosters a team environment to support plant operations, using metrics to measure maintenance performance, continuous improvement, and asset reliability. Incorporates continuous improvement feedback into the maintenance planning and execution strategy. Utilises lifecycle cost analysis (LCA) for decision making and evaluation of rebuild vs replacement alternatives. Ensures compliance with HACCP, BRCGS regulations, and GMP, maintaining all relevant documentation. Requirements Self‑motivated and passionate individual with a high sense of urgency, able to manage multiple priorities. Minimum five years of maintenance management experience. Engineering degree or engineering technologist diploma (mechanical / industrial / electrical). Professional Engineer designation is an asset (P. Eng). Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) certification and Certified Asset Management Professional designation (PEMAC) are also assets. Mechanical Millwright 433A or Industrial Electrician 442A trade experience preferred. Minimum five years experience with computerised maintenance management software (CMMS). Working knowledge of ammonia plant operations. Strong project management skills. Excellent computer skills, proficient in MS Office and Excel.
