Located in the hamlet of Brant, AB, and supporting students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, Brant Christian School invites motivated educators to apply for the Part-Time, Temporary English 20 teaching position available December 1, 2025. Brant Christian School provides an excellent, affordable Christian education in a beautiful country setting. The goal of BCS is to help each student develop a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ and to be able to discover and utilize the unique gifts that God has given them. The desire is to train and equip students so that they can grow to be effective ambassadors in our churches and communities. This position will be mornings only and the temporary contract may be extended. This role includes supporting other teachers in the building with one on one pull out support. Benefits: This position qualifies for a robust and comprehensive paid benefit plan (ASEBP) Responsibilities: Establishes clear objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of Alberta Education, and communicates these objectives to students. Prepares for assigned classes, and demonstrates written evidence of preparation upon request. Prepares materials for learning, and classrooms for activities, as appropriate. Instructs using a variety of instructional approaches appropriate for grade level, student needs and program focus. Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate. Assigns lessons and corrects homework. Observes and evaluates students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Prepares, administers, and grades a variety of student evaluative tools such as projects, tests, assignments in order to evaluate students' progress. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct student records as required. Establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order and safety among the students for whom they are responsible, under the guidance of the Principal. Enforces all administrative policies and rules governing students. Meets with other professionals to discuss individual students' needs and progress. Confers with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to discuss children's progress and resource needs, and to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems, as appropriate. Confers with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula. Collaborates with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of school programs. Attends professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence. Attends staff meetings, and serves on staff committees as required. Prepares students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks. Adapts teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests. Prepares and implements remedial programs for students requiring extra help. Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injury and damage. Provides special needs students with assistive devices, supportive technology, and assistance accessing facilities such as restrooms, as necessary. Plans and supervises class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, as appropriate, and guides students in learning from such activities. Uses computers, multi‑media, and other equipment and materials to support the learning process. Organizes and supervises recreational and other activities as appropriate, to promote physical, mental, and social development. Sponsors extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests, as appropriate. Performs supervisory duties, as assigned, such as hall, cafeteria and playground monitoring, and bus loading and unloading. Plans assignments for Education Assistants, Special Education and other classroom support staff as appropriate, and assists the Principal in their supervision and evaluation of performance. Performs other related tasks as appropriate, including organizing materials, displaying students' work, as assigned. Experience & Qualifications: Alberta Teaching Certificate; Previous experience administering junior and high school curriculum; Successful Criminal Reference Check, including vulnerable sectors (within 3 months of contract start date) Skills and Competencies: Confidence, skill, knowledge and understanding of differentiated instruction, student engagement, and assessment practices Strong work ethic Ability to relate well with students, staff and parents An ethic of service to students, colleagues, and community Strong interpersonal skills combined with the ability to create positive relationships and establish rapport Trustworthiness and integrity Commitment to the Palliser Policy‑Governance model Ability to articulate a coherent understanding of educational aims Commitment to fostering collaborative working relationships Ability to manage professional learning time and be a self‑starter Commitment to personal lifelong learning Commitment to the lifelong quest for self‑understanding Commitment to strengthening communication skills. Provide a Statement of personal Christian Faith detailing a commitment to Christian Faith and education, with an accompanied letter of Pastoral reference (required).
