In addition, Outdoor Educators assist the Outdoor Centre Director and Assistant Outdoor Centre Director with the development of new programs, as well as the revision and updating of existing programs. ResponsibilitiesProvide direct program delivery to participants of all ages, including elementary and secondary school groups, colleges and universities, retreats, youth groups, sports teams, conferences, and other youth and adult groups. Include outdoor activities such as low and high ropes courses, archery, orienteering, fire building, shelter building, and various initiativesMonitor the safety of all activities and programs throughout the duty period and respond immediately to any safety concernsAct as host and facilitator for individuals and groups, ensuring overall satisfaction with facilities, programs, and staffAssist with general maintenance and cleanliness of the site and provide support with other duties as requiredBuild relationships continuously with members, staff, volunteers, and community partnersAssist in the research and development of outdoor education/leadership programs and in the marketing and promotion of Cedar GlenPerform other duties as assigned You bringWorking towards and/or completion of some post-secondary courses in outdoor recreation or related field is an assetThree or more seasons of experience working at an outdoor centre in program facilitator role is preferredExperience in outdoor education/leadership role is an assetChallenge Course/High Ropes training and experience is an assetBilingualism (French/English) is an assetAbility to work effectively with others and independently to achieve optimal collective resultsWell-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteersExcellent written communication skillsCurrent Standard First Aid and CPR “C” requiredNational Lifeguard Service award is an assetFlexibility regarding assigned working hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays requiredCommitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging What you need to succeedCommitment to the YMCA’s Mission, Vision and ValuesFocus on the health, safety and wellbeing of all children, youth, and vulnerable people in YMCA programs including understanding legal and moral obligations related to reporting suspected child abuse to Child Protection ServicesYMCA Competencies: Accountable, Relationship-Builder, Improvement-Orientated, Team Player & Leader, Equity and Wellbeing Promoter Why work for the YMCA?The YMCA of Greater Toronto is a charity that ignites the potential in people, helping them grow, lead, and give back to their communities.
