Baseline Payments is looking for a full-time senior software developer to join, and lead, its team.

Baseline Payments?

Baseline is a Vancouver-based payments consultancy and fintech. Since 2012, we have built our business to a portfolio of nearly 2,000 clients across Canada and the U.S. We work with merchants on improving their accounts receivable and accounts payable processes. We investigate their needs, recommend solutions, connect them with processors/banks and other partners, and provide ongoing client support and consultation to keep up with rapidly changing payments environments. We are also technology owners. We have our own payments platform — an EFT (bank-to-bank) solution that competes well with the banks’ offerings. We are also working on the development of other solutions, including a marina management app.

What's the job?

We’re looking for a senior software developer to join the Baseline team.

These are exciting times for our two chief products, but there is lots of work to be done. From leadership of the group to boots-on-the-ground coding, we’re looking for an experienced software developer who wants to be part of a motivated, excited group that wants to provide the best offerings for its client base and prospects.

Responsibilities may include:

Ensuring that the platforms are commercially viable Developing technical subject matter expertise Providing leadership in the design of application modules Develop, maintain and deploy software applications to meet user and business needs Oversee system-wide tests Developing relationships with clients, where necessary Monitoring system performance to ensure that software programs are operating optimally Working with senior managers, software developers, external development vendors and others to coordinate the development of processes to meet delivery deadlines and initiatives

You must:

Have a strong business mindset Have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering Have at least 10 years of previous programming experience, including software design and patterns Be well-versed in Python, Javascript (React), TypeScript, Node.JS, and cloud infrastructure (GCP) Demonstrate proven ability to understand and maintain complex projects and solutions

The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative and look to mentor others, show intellectual curiosity, creativity and personal accountability. They must be good communicators who can prioritize and enjoy being part of, and leading, a team. And be able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

We’re also looking for someone who’s happy to work in a cool office, surrounded by cool people. The position will largely be based in the office.
