About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager (HSM), the staff perfusionist supports patients undergoing cardiac surgery through the provision of cardiovascular perfusion services at the Halifax Infirmary (adult) and the Isaak Walton Killam Health Center (pediatrics). p>

Perfusion services also provide support for ECMO, Sugarbaker procedures, ventricular assist devices, balloon pumps, and blood recovery systems for various procedures including liver transplant.

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Perfusion Technology.
  • Possession of a recognized degree in a science or health care discipline is an asset.
  • 2 years of clinical perfusion experience is an asset, but recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with adult and pediatric cardiopulmonary bypass procedures is an asset.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an interest in research and quality assurance development.
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, French preferred.

    • Permanent, Full-Time position; li>
    • 24/7 coverage (including on-site and/or on-call) for IWK, 1st call QEII, 2nd call QEII.
