If you need accommodation for the interview process, just let us know#youbelonghereReporting to the Director, Data Governance, the Senior Manager, Data Governance is a key member of Symcor’s growing Data & Trust Office. You will play a critical part in operationalizing our data governance strategy, ensuring high standards for data quality, integrity, and security, while promoting data as a trusted, valuable asset across the organization. As a key leader in the team, you will manage governance operations, oversee tool and control implementations, and champion a data-driven culture. You’ll work closely with business leaders, technology teams, and compliance partners to build scalable governance capabilities while developing and mentoring a growing team.This is a hybrid role with requirements to be on site 3 days a week, providing a balance between remote flexibility and in-person collaboration.About The Role:Lead the implementation of data governance policies, standards, and frameworks across business and technology functionsEngage with executive stakeholders, data owners and stewards to embed governance practices into operational processesOversee the rollout and management of data governance platforms (data catalog, metadata management, lineage, data quality tools, etc.)Partner with IT, Privacy, Legal, Security and Compliance to define and implement governance controls for data access, classification, and retentionAssist in developing and executing the overall data quality strategy, aligning with business objectives and data governance frameworksDevelop and establish data quality standards, guidelines, monitoring and reporting to track key metrics and trendsFacilitates training and education of stakeholders on their roles and responsibilities, data management procedures and effective tool utilizationEnsure critical data elements (CDEs) are defined, monitored, and governed appropriatelyManage day-to-day operations of the data governance program, including council meetings, issue management, reporting, and communicationsTrack governance metrics and program milestones, continuously improving processes for efficiency, scalability, and business value deliveryBuild and manage a team of data governance professionals, providing coaching, feedback, and career developmentFoster a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on accountability, innovation, and continuous improvementLead cross-functional governance working groups to identify opportunities and formulate initiatives for improving data governance processes and engagementOversee and execute established compliance monitoring and auditing activities including scheduled attestations and regulatory reviewsWhat You Need to Succeed:Education:Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Data Management, or a related field, or equivalent education and work experienceCertifications related to data governance or related fields such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) considered an assetExperience:8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Quality Management, or a related data management functionProven experience managing and developing teams in a collaborative cultureExcellent stakeholder engagement, leadership, and change management skillsStrong understanding of data governance frameworks and data management best practices, tools (ie Purview, Collibra, Informatica) and metadata managementStrong track record of leading cross-functional data initiatives and resolving complex data issuesSkill requirementsStrong leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels, and drive collaborationKnowledge of data governance tools and technologies (ie Purview, Collibra, Atacama, Informatica), metadata management platforms, and advanced data analysis toolsKnowledge of industry standards and data management frameworks (ie DCAM, DAMA)Ability to analyze complex data issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutionsProactive problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex issues and implement long-term improvementsFamiliarity with data privacy regulations, and the ability to ensure compliance with governance practicesExceptional interpersonal skills with proven experience in relationship building, influencing, and partnering with both business and technical teamsHighly motivated self-starter with the ability to flexibly multi-taskAbility to produce measurable business results while working under time constraintsWhat’s In It For YouAt Symcor, we define our success by what we help others achieve.
