A day in the life

  1. Manage day-to-day operations of our Halifax Metals division while collaborating with other divisions as required
  2. Qualify bids. Review all aspects of a new order including estimate, pre-plan information, etc.
  3. Establish and continually update job schedule, site requirements, etc. with general contractor and supervisors
  4. Attend and facilitate weekly project status meetings
  5. Lead and delegate project distribution and manage team members
  6. Collaborate in the development and implementation of organization policies, practices, procedures and attainment of operating goals
  7. Represent Flynn in new business opportunities through contact with individuals who are a critical part of new project opportunities. Secure follow-up work with existing clients based on past performance
  8. Oversee performance of projects to ensure safety, quality, profitability, and timely execution of work
  9. Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports
  10. Ensure effective scheduling of all items/actions required to complete a project on time and on budget
  11. Responsible for developing a strong team within the division and building continuity within the group
  12. Establish and maintain client relationships and develop a high level of trust and credibility with clients, alliance partners, subcontractors, and project teams
  13. Report identified potential business risk elements and design and implement mitigation efforts
  14. Build and maintain relationships with industry leaders, associations, and organizations
  15. Exercise global decision making by considering other departments within the company
  16. Project staffing needs. Interview, develop, and retain high-performing employees
  17. Monthly management updates to assure projects are progressing as scheduled and within budget

What we are looking for

  1. 10 or more years of experience in construction industry preferred
  2. Strong people skills including abilities to teach, coach and mentor
  3. Degree in Construction Management, Business, or related educational field preferred. Experience in lieu of accepted
  4. Strong knowledge of Architectural Metal/Panels required
  5. Knowledge of commercial roofing work is an asset
  6. Finance knowledge or experience managing budgets required
  7. Engineering and/or drafting experience is an asset
  8. Computer proficiency (MS Office) and knowledge of or ability to learn project management software as well as proprietary Flynn Software
  9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines, while providing exemplary customer service
  10. Ability to meet goals and maintain compliance with company policies and procedures
