This position is part of the Connect 6ix project. Toronto's new Ontario Line subway is now under construction. The Connect 6ix consortium has a key role in this project, delivering the trains, the signaling system, and the operations, storage, and maintenance facility. Connect 6ix will also operate the Ontario Line for a 30-year term once it comes into service.

Role Overview

The Senior Contract Administrator will oversee and manage all aspects of construction contract obligations, ensuring compliance and seamless execution across departments. This role involves coordinating with various departments to ensure timely fulfillment of contractual obligations and providing technical expertise in negotiating major subcontracts. The ideal candidate will draft and review contractual correspondence, maintain detailed records of all contract-related communications, and support the resolution of complex contractual issues. Additionally, they will develop and implement contract management strategies to optimize project outcomes and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing different topics of the Construction Contract obligation with the Client, as well as the interface obligations of the Civil Joint Venture with Systems partner, and with Operation and Maintenance partner, as required.
  • Coordinating with different departments, such as design, interface, and construction, to ensure seamless execution and fulfillment of contractual obligations.
  • Participating actively in processes that enable early notification of delay events, claims or disputes.
  • Providing contractual input for the Variations assessments.
  • Providing support by assessing the impact of the claim and providing data to support and defend the Joint Venture position.
  • Ensuring, with the rest of the team, compliance with contract requirements and contract management-related matters.
  • Providing contractual support to the interfaces team when clarification on the scope split with other partners or stakeholders is required.
  • Provides technical expertise to support the negotiations of major/complex subcontracts.
  • Accountable for ensuring Civil Joint Venture delivers and executes in accordance with terms of their obligations and scope of work.
  • Drafting timely and accurate contractual correspondence.
  • Keeping a record of important correspondence and events of the project (to track and record the timeline of the main topics/events).
  • Maintain organized and detailed records of all contract-related communications, changes, and agreements.
  • Ensuring that Indicators related to Contract Management team are updated.
  • Providing input and reviewing the monthly Works Report as needed.
  • Developing and implementing contract management strategies to optimize project outcomes.
  • Collaborating with senior management to align contract management practices with organizational goals.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in contract administration or management within the construction industry – major projects.
  • Strong understanding of contract terms, conditions, and legal requirements.
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written English) skills are essential.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and completeness, and ability to notice errors.
  • Ability to identify potential issues and risks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
