Senior SOX Compliance Specialist Honda Canada Inc. (HCFI) is seeking a Senior SOX Compliance Specialist to serve as the SOX Lead and support compliance activities related to Sarbanes-Oxley certification. Location Markham, Ontario, Canada Responsibilities Review Global and Regional SOX instructions annually and plan yearly SOX activities. Review the adequacy of HCFI’s key controls and document the linkage of key controls to in-scope processes. Assess significant changes in HCFI internal controls and report to local and regional management as needed. Perform & facilitate SOX risk assessment, obtain and document understanding of business processes using a risk-based approach to ICFR in the COSO Framework. Determine IT General Control (“ITGC”) scope for HCFI based on Process Level (“PLC”) controls. Engage in annual planning and regular status meetings with American Honda Finance Corporation (“AHFC”) SOX Lead. Communicate upcoming SOX related activities and deliverables to HCFI Business Owners to support control operation and testing activities. Ensure HCFI process narratives and key control matrices are reviewed for completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness. Provide guidance and training to HCFI business owners on control design and operation best practices. Coordinate with internal testing teams, external auditors, and Business Owners to implement test plans. Evaluate deficiencies and assist control owners in developing and monitoring remediation plans. Review System & Organization Control (SOC) reports, identify exceptions, and assess potential impact on HCFI’s control environment. Report SOX results to local and regional management periodically and address additional requests. Obtain interim and annual sub-certifications from HCFI Business Owners. Track SOX testing time spent and outside fees incurred and report to Regional SOX management. Make recommendations for improvements in HCFI compliance testing and gap assessments, conduct follow‑up audits, and liaise with various parties to maintain SOX standards. Develop and maintain accurate documentation of all internal control compliance activities and audit reports. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications University degree in a related field. Relevant professional designations: CPA, CA, CMA, CGA, CIA, CISA, CISSP, or equivalent. Minimum five years of experience in SOX, audit, financial, or information technology compliance. Excellent negotiation, conflict management, and leadership skills. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently under pressure and strict deadlines. Capability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
