The Office of Risk Management (ORM) supports the implementation of programs, policies, and practices to manage the risk of RSM Canada LLP. Audit Quality & Risk Management (AQRM) within ORM monitors the firm’s audit practice, including the System of Quality Management (CSQM 1) and regulatory inspections. Reporting directly to the Audit Quality and Risk Leader in Canada, this role will oversee the ongoing monitoring and annual evaluation of the System of Quality Management (SOQM), focusing on risk‑based control testing and improvement. Responsibilities Lead and oversee monitoring of the firm’s SOQM and its implementation of CSQM1/ISQM1 Guide the AQRM team in implementing a monitoring program aligned with quality standards and best practices Assess design adequacy and perform operation effectiveness testing, including scoping, testing strategies, and control rotation Coordinate engagement-level monitoring and assist the SOQM evaluation team Evaluate control environment to mitigate quality risks and recommend improvements Assist with the annual evaluation of SOQM to ensure objectives are achieved and aligned to quality standards Lead root‑cause analysis on audit quality issues identified through evaluations and regulatory reviews Prepare and present status updates to leadership and senior executives on SOQM monitoring Design and implement monitoring and evaluation processes consistent with PCAOB QC1000 and firm standards Manage the SOQM team and act as performance manager Assist with inspections by regulators (CPAB, PCAOB, CPA provincial bodies, CIRO) and develop risk‑management action plans Participate in quality initiatives and coach engagement leaders on audit quality topics Develop and deliver continuing professional education courses Perform other monitoring and quality initiatives and ad‑hoc projects as directed by the AQRM leadership Occasional business travel within Canada may be required Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree Active CPA license in good standing in Canada Minimum of 8 years post‑qualification experience Working knowledge of CAS, IFRS and ASPE Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively Rapid adaptability to change in the firm and regulatory environment Clear communication skills to diverse audiences Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills Effective leadership skills, including mentoring Strong analytical, organizational and planning skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with CPAB, CPA provincial regulatory bodies or PCAOB inspections Experience with audit tools such as CaseWare, IDEA, DataSnipper, Alteryx, or similar Experience performing controls testing (external audit, internal audit, ISQM/CSQM1, SOX, etc.) Experience auditing internal controls in a large professional services firm Experience managing teams to deliver control testing plans and detailed review Ability to lead by understanding team dynamics and drive business improvement Compensation Compensation Range: $107,000 – $182,000 CAD.
