Position Overview Under the general supervision of the Charge Medical Technologist or designate, the General Duty MRI Technologist performs diagnostic MRI scans in accordance with procedures established within the MRI Department. The incumbent maintains a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines, ensures compliance with quality assurance programs, and upholds accreditation standards. The role supports the mission and values of Shared Health and follows current policies, procedures, and applicable legislation. Responsibilities Perform diagnostic MRI scans per established protocols. Ensure patient safety and comfort throughout examinations. Operate and troubleshoot MRI instrumentation and related software. Maintain image quality and adhere to quality assurance procedures. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies. Follow oral and written instructions with attention to detail. Document procedures accurately in the Radiology Information System (RIS). Assist in training and mentoring of new staff when required. Experience Previous related experience in MRI preferred. Experience with Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving Systems (PACS). Education Graduate of an approved MRI training program with successful completion of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technology registration examinations (CAMRT). Certification/Licensure Successful completion of an accredited Medical Imaging Technology Program, eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) within three months of hire. Current BCLS within the past 12 months or BCLS Instructor Certificate. Qualifications and Skills Proficiency in a Windows computer environment. Microsoft Office programs preferred. Demonstrated competency in manipulating and interpreting MR images. Excellent dexterity to operate diagnostic instrumentation according to approved scopes. Strong oral and written communication skills in English; bilingual French/English may be required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Organizational and interpersonal skills to build positive working relationships. Analytical proficiency and ability to perform under pressure. Commitment to confidentiality and ethical practices. Fluent in French and English may be required. Physical Requirements Not applicable.
