Capstone is hiring for the job of Senior Project Manager. This is a one-year contract term for the Dartmouth Nova Scotia location. Following a successful year of engagement with clients, you will be invited to join our team as a full-time, permanent member.

What the Project Management Team does:
  1. Delivers project management, program management, portfolio management and consultant services.
  2. Develops and maintains project and process direction.
  3. Ensures the project adheres to its contracted timelines and budget.
  4. Identifies, manages, communicates, and remediates related risks.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will:
  1. Engage clients and scope their projects or programs. You may deliver a portfolio of projects for a single client.
  2. Initiate projects with well-documented Charters.
  3. Lead investigations and team conversations to deliver detailed project schedules, and project plans covering all the knowledge areas.
  4. Coordinate resource engagement activities, as well as the collecting and sharing of information.
  5. Set and manage stakeholder expectations, both internally and externally.
  6. Prepare a budget based on project scope. Develop and report on project spend as well as forecasted budget at completion.
  7. Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and reports, as requested, or required.
  8. Monitor, control and report on the project(s) performance with clients and with the Capstone PMI.
  9. Ensure overall project management and key project milestones/deliverables are met to the client's satisfaction.
  10. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior project managers, offering support in project planning, execution, and stakeholder management.
  11. Anticipate and take action to avoid and/or reduce potential conflict within the project teams or between stakeholders, ensuring smooth project progress.
  12. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project objectives.
To do this job, you need:
  1. A post-secondary education in Business or a related field.
  2. At least 7 years of proven experience in managing projects of varying size and complexity over differing industries.
  3. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a requirement.
  4. Expert knowledge of project management frameworks and best practices.
  5. Experience developing project strategies, establishing governance, program planning, scheduling, and critical path management.
  6. MS Project intermediate or higher skill level.
  7. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (or equivalent).
  8. Proven experience in using popular project management tools such as Asana, Trello, Kanban boards, etc.
  9. Experience managing large projects, technical implementations, and other architecting complex project structures preferred.
