Position description The McGill University Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Division of Diagnostic Imaging—Musculoskeletal Imaging in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time position as a board-certified radiologist at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical) based at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH). The professorial rank will be determined according to the candidate’s qualifications and experience. This will be a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The JGH Department of Radiology is combined with the Department of Nuclear Medicine under Medical Imaging. About 180,000 exams (radiography, CT, US, MRI) are performed annually within the Diagnostic Radiology department. The JGH has over 600 beds and recently expanded its footprint with the addition of a new pavilion. The Department of Radiology currently has two MRI systems (1.5T and 3T) and three CT scanners. Two of the 2 CT scanners will be soon be upgraded with state-of-the-art technology. The Nuclear Medicine department has recently acquired a new PET scan system. The entire Department of Radiology will be undergoing a complete 2-3 year renovation, which will include two new IR suites with one having CT-angiography capabilities. Exceptional research opportunities exist both within the department and across departmental boundaries within the Faculty of Medicine and the University. The successful candidate will join an academic and high-volume comprehensive Division at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH), a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. Job Duties The successful candidate will be expected to combine clinical excellence with academic engagement in a supportive, collaborative environment. The incumbent will be actively involved in the academic activities of the McGill University Department of Diagnostic Radiology, which include clinical, teaching, and/or research activities within the department composed of 16 full-time fellowship trained radiologists. The practice at the JGH is general radiology with specialized training and interpretation. The incumbent must be able to interpret a diverse array of radiological examinations, including plain radiography, US, mammography, CT, and MRI exams. The successful candidate must also participate in diagnostic evening shifts and on-call duties; they will additionally be expected to participate in tumor boards on a rotational basis. The successful candidate will also be expected to be involved in relevant activities of McGill’s academic mission (e.g., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). McGill faculty members are expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. Qualifications and Education Requirements Candidates must: Hold an MD degree, and must hold, or be eligible for, licensure in the province of Quebec; Have completed subspecialty training in Musculoskeletal Imaging in North America; Hold, or be eligible for, certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec; Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Diagnostic Radiology; Possessing an additional 6-month specialty training in breast imaging will be considered an asset; Bilingual language skills (French and English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec. Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families, and health care professionals.
