Position Summary

The Emergency Room physician is expected to work scheduled shifts in the Emergency Department, based on the governance of the Alternative Funding Agreement signed between the Ministry of Health and the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Group. The Emergency Room physician is expected to see patients presenting to the Emergency Room and functions as Most Responsible Physician.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. On-Call: Provision of Emergency Department on-call; Participation in any future regional Emergency on-call service.
  2. In-Patient: The ER physician is expected to attend codes within the hospital environment.
  3. Administrative and Quality: Participation in strategic planning and program development of Emergency services; Participation in ongoing quality improvement and safety activities related to Emergency care; Participation in hospital committees pertaining to specialty and as required by the credentialed staff by-laws; li>
  4. Utilization: Utilization of Emergency Room in an efficient/optimized manner.Qualifications

    Education: College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) unrestricted license that allows the physician to fulfil the requirements of this position. Fellowship in Family Medicine or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) specializing in Emergency Medicine would be an asset.
