We’re looking for an elite Freelance Design Operations Lead (Visual Design) to join us part‑time with the option to transition into a full‑time role to own our daily production rhythm. You will be part of our visual design team that handles branding, web design, motion design, illustrations, and more for B2B SaaS clients. This role sits at the intersection of design/strategy and product management and is not a traditional position. A day in the shoes of a Freelance Design Operations Lead (Visual Design) Morning review of Notion – Open Mission Control to review assigned projects and tasks. Ensure each task moves forward, identify blockers, verify designers understand requirements and are executing correctly, and confirm work follows SOPs and quality standards. Client meeting prep – Based on project assignments, prepare for scheduled client presentations. Know what needs to be shown, how to present it, and anticipate questions or feedback. Lead or support meetings as needed. Design rituals and critique – Participate in team rituals where we collectively review and critique work, elevate design quality through constructive feedback, and maintain consistency across projects. Cross‑function collaboration – Brief motion designers, creative developers, and illustrators on project requirements; ensure assets are ready for animation and development; coordinate disciplines so motion work, 3D assets, and illustrations integrate seamlessly with core designs. Quality control – Remove obstacles that prevent progress; clarify requirements, review work for accuracy, and make quick decisions to keep momentum. Responsibilities Keep Projects Moving – Monitor assigned projects daily and ensure smooth task progress, resolve blockers quickly, and maintain momentum across the portfolio. Uphold Design Excellence – Review all design work, provide elevating feedback, and ensure every deliverable meets high standards before client delivery. Lead Client Presentations – Prepare for and deliver compelling client meetings, handle feedback professionally, and keep clients aligned with the project vision. Enable Team Success – Provide teams with clear processes, resources, and guidance to excel; ensure everyone understands requirements. Coordinate Cross‑Functional Delivery – Orchestrate handoffs between designers, developers, motion artists, and illustrators for integrated delivery. Qualifications Minimum 7 years of experience in Visual Design. At least 2 years specifically in B2B SaaS, ideally from seed‑stage or Series A startups. Strong track record working with early‑stage startups (seed to Series A). Experience with design‑forward B2B SaaS companies that prioritize design excellence. Advanced proficiency in Figma and Framer. Strong knowledge of motion design principles and After Effects. Understanding of 3D and illustration workflows and requirements. Ability to review and guide work across all these disciplines. Comfortable leading projects with high ambiguity – clients seek clarity, not already clear. Proven ability to navigate uncertainty and define direction from unclear requirements. Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with varying complexity. Exceptional communication skills – written and verbal. Meticulous attention to detail across all design and delivery aspects. Strong strategic thinking to balance design excellence with project constraints. Ability to context‑switch quickly between multiple projects and disciplines.
