We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill a 2nd Class Power Engineer position within our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada.
- Provides coverage for Shift Engineer or Assistant Shift Engineer for vacations, illness, training or other absences as required (See Shift and Assistant Shift Engineers’ Job descriptions)
- Coordinates maintenance for department equipment
- Performs routine maintenance checks
- Diagnose problems and determine possible solutions on equipment
- Solve equipment problems for possible minor repairs
- Arrange for maintenance to repair equipment problems for more significant issues
- Provide advice and assist maintenance if possible
- Issues both QPA and DPA permits
- Maintains daily log sheets, operational data and charts for purposes of record keeping as legislated by the legislative requirements
- Ensures that all work performed is in accordance with plant Safety policies and procedures and Environmental standards, ensure that exhaust furnace gas being dispersed to the atmosphere meets standards

QualificationsEducation:
- Must possess a valid 2nd Class Operating Engineer’s License, knowledge of Operating Engineers Act, Boilers, Pressure Vessels and fuels
- Willing to accept a 3rd Class Power Engineer who is currently working towards receiving their 2nd Class Power Engineer certification
- Knowledge of all applicable TSSA regulations
- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Power Engineering Technology or related field of study or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Strong knowledge of power generation / transmission technology, water and waste water treatment including processes, procedures and related systems in a plant environment
