Advanced Practice Respiratory Therapist - RepostRequisition ID: 378686Position Number: 20090145Posting End Date: April 25, 2025City: WinnipegEmployer: Shared HealthSite: Shared Health - Health Sciences CentreDepartment / Unit: Emergency Response ServicesJob Stream: ClinicalUnion: MAHCPAnticipated Start Date: May 1, 2025FTE: 1.00Work Arrangement: In PersonDaily Hours Worked: 12.00Annual Base Hours: 2080Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba.Position OverviewProvides current and competent clinical care while treating patients in multiple venues, including medical facilities in Manitoba, ground ambulance, ground patient support vehicle, and air ambulance.Functions in harsh and unusual environmental conditions, including extreme weather and unconventional modes of transportation to ensure personal and patient safety at all times.Responsible for the provision of basic and advanced level patient care to adult, pediatric, and neonatal/obstetric patients during interfacility transport.May assume responsibility for and provide care to single or multiple patients during interfacility transport, in accordance with Patient Transport Program protocols.May be assigned temporary duties when provincial needs arise. Works collaboratively with EMS, paramedics, dispatch, hospital site staff, and flight nurses.ExperienceMinimum 3-5 years' experience as a Respiratory Therapist, with extensive experience in critical care, emergency, anaesthesia, or ground/air patient transportation.Knowledge and proficiency in airway management, including tracheal intubation for adults, pediatrics, and neonates, required.Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)Entry-to-practice academic credential in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited Canadian program or a MARRT approved equivalent, if internationally educated, is required.Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or another field of study with a relevant major is preferred.Special Training:Current BCLS is required.ACLS provider is preferred.Current ITLS, PALS, NRP, and CAMATA is preferred.Maintenance of current certification in the proceeding courses is required.Maintaining continuing education credits in the related area of practice is required.Certification/Licensure/RegistrationCurrent license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the Province of Manitoba (MARRT).Must maintain current license to practice in Manitoba (in good standing with no restrictions).Must be a member in good standing with the Canadian Society of Registered Respiratory Therapists.Must maintain personal liability insurance as recommended by licensing/regulatory body.Must maintain Aeromedical licensure.Must have valid class 5 driver’s license.Qualifications and SkillsAbility to work independently with limited direction and no direct supervision of daily function.Ability to interpret and apply protocols/standards of practice in response to clinical situations.Ability to apply critical thinking during stressful situations.Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.Ability to utilize independence and flexibility in planning daily workload.Maintains currency in therapeutic practice of Respiratory Therapy.We have a unique ability to work together to make health care better.
