Detailed Overview: Reporting to the designated supervisor, the Radiological Technologist, CT/General Procedures performs CT and radiographic procedures in accordance with departmental policy, safety standards, and a client- and family-centered care model. Responsibilities Performs CT examinations in accordance with established procedures, including requisitions processing, patient identification, positioning, venipuncture for contrast media injections as directed, operating CT equipment, labeling records and verifying results. Monitors patients during procedures and responds to adverse reactions or emergencies, including potential CPR as required. Performs radiography exams and uses departmental information systems to manage requisitions and imaging data. Facilitates workflow by ensuring requisitions meet standards and coordinating with porters as needed. Performs quality control duties per Diagnostic Accreditation Program requirements and manufacturer guidelines; records results and notifies supervisor of issues. Maintains and stocks the work area; prepares examination trays; assists in equipment and supply management. Demonstrates procedures and equipment to staff, participates in orientation and supervision of students. Responds to inquiries about examinations and schedules and refers concerns to the supervisor as required. Ensures Health and Safety rules, regulations and practices are followed (Fire, Disaster, WHMIS, Smart Moves, Infection Control) and maintains safe procedures. Participates in department improvements, protocol development and hospital committees as appropriate. Participates in approved research and special projects as required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Training and Experience Certification with the CAMRT. Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography and one (1) year recent, related experience in radiology procedures or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice. CPR - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level. Skills And Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations. Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practice related to the designated modality. Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures and standards of care, including safe work procedures with modality equipment. Knowledge of General Radiography and CT theory and practices within a client/family centered model of care. Knowledge of PACS/radiology information systems, image archiving and retrieval. Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others; plan and establish workload priorities. CPR techniques proficiency. Computer skills with current applications. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
