We are committed to empowering communities for the future.Title: Director, Family Based Programs and Services, Nuu-Chah-Nulth Cultural FamilySalary: $125,708 - $147,891 - $170,075 per yearContract: PermanentHours: 37.5 hours per week (core hours 9am–3pm Mon–Fri)Location: Vancouver Island, BC, on ancestral territories of the Coast Salish, Kwakwaka'wakw, and Nuu-Chah-Nulth Nations – Onsite – Travel within the Vancouver Island Region, and occasionally outside of the region, is required.About the RoleAs Director, Family Based Programs and Services, Nuu-Chah-Nulth Cultural Family, you will provide senior leadership and strategic oversight for Nuu-Chah-Nulth Family community-based programs and services. This includes Community Engagement and Planning, Nursing, Primary Care, Mental Health & Substance Use, Traditional Wellness, Maternal and Child Health, Environmental Public Health, Health Emergency Management, and Public Health Response. You will oversee a diverse portfolio focused on supporting holistic, community-driven health and wellness across the region.ResponsibilitiesProvide senior leadership and strategic oversight for Nuu-Chah-Nulth Family community-based programs and services.Oversee areas including Community Engagement and Planning, Nursing, Primary Care, Mental Health & Substance Use, Traditional Wellness, Maternal and Child Health, Environmental Public Health, Health Emergency Management, and Public Health Response.Lead in alignment with community values and wellness goals; promote holistic, community-driven health outcomes.Education and QualificationsA degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Social Work, or an equivalent and acceptable combination of education, training and experience.A Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, or Social Work is a requirement.Experience7–10 years of recent and relevant experience in First Nations health and wellness programming and service delivery.7–10 years of recent and relevant experience in crisis response, emergency management, and responding to health-related emergencies.Experience working directly with First Nations communities, including health professionals and paraprofessionals.Experience engaging with First Nations people at community and/or political levels, particularly in community engagement and development.Experience working within complex intergovernmental relationships and leading diverse teams in fast-paced environments.KnowledgeKnowledge of the BC First Nations health landscape, including governance structures and current priorities.Familiarity with health and wellness priorities and challenges of Nuu-Chah-Nulth Family communities on Vancouver Island, including their governance model.Understanding of the Vancouver Island Health Emergency Management landscape, key partners, and their roles in relation to First Nations communities.Working at FNHAMunicipal Pension plan with an employer contribution of 9.31% (after 3 months)4 weeks’ vacation, increasing with service to 5 weeks, plus 5 personal days, 1 volunteer day, and 14 public holidays including National Indigenous People’s Day and othersAccess to group health benefits and a Health Care Spending Account through Canada Life on day 1 of employmentAnd moreEquity and Safety The First Nations Health Authority is committed to respecting diversity within our workforce; preference will be given to individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.
