Construction Inspector

We’re looking for a Construction Inspector to join Palmer’s environmental team. Our ideal candidate has skills in construction environmental monitoring and experience managing a variety of construction-related projects. Work experience with environmental protection and mitigation, erosion and sedimentation control, dust management, stream diversions, and habitat restoration is beneficial.
What You’re Responsible For:
- Conduct environmental monitoring and inspection for compliance with provincial environmental regulations and environmental management plans.
- Determine the effectiveness of environmental mitigation measures to be installed or implemented during construction.
- Notifying contractors of any issues that may require mitigation.
- Ensure construction activities are carried out in accordance with environmental plans and procedures.
- Document environmental conditions and observations adjacent to work areas.
- Helping to correct construction activity that fails to meet environmental requirements or represent significant risk to the environment.
- Keep detailed records of construction activities and environmental conditions of the Site.
- Compile monitoring reports and inspection forms.
- Work on multiple projects, to support execution of scope/budget/schedule to meet Client expectations.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with the project team.
- Liaise with Clients, regulators, and subcontractors.
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science or related field.
- CISEC, EIT, GIT, C.Tech, or C.E.T. designation/certification would be an asset.
- 5 years’ experience in the consulting industry or relevant industry.
- Construction environmental monitoring and soil/sediment/groundwater sampling experience would be an asset.
- Ability and interest to undertake extensive fieldwork, in a range of weather conditions and on short notice.
- Ability to manage a variety of projects concurrently while meeting challenging deadlines.
- Ability to work additional or non-standard hours.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented and can work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working with multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems in a timely manner.
This position will be based out of Palmer’s Toronto office and includes frequent travel across southern Ontario for field work at various project sites. Flexible work location with an opportunity to work from the office, home, or both All candidates must have a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.
