We are proud to live, work, and play in the neighborhoods we serve, next to our residents, hotel guests, and commercial tenants.We are looking for a Property Accountant to join our Corporate-Finance team in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Manager, Residential Accounting, you will be an important part of our team, assisting in the effective operations of our property management offices, while providing exceptional customer service.Ideal CandidateOrganized and productive while working independently, as well as a committed team playerEncompasses strong critical thinking with a proactive mindsetDetail-oriented work and has exemplary time management skillsStrong numeracy and written communication skillsDemonstrates good judgment in applying company policies and is dependable to deliver high-quality results when handed time-sensitive tasksResponsibilitiesProcess tenant security deposit refundsMonitor bank accounts and ensure validity of transactions, including bank reconciliationsPrepare bank deposits for multiple bank accountsPreparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual working papers, journal entries, and reconciliationsProvide information and liaise with Regional Managers regarding financial mattersEnsure all monthly internal financial reporting are delivered accurately and on a timely basisAnalyze financial statements, identify trends, and prepare and/or assist with variance analysisMonitor and review accounting processes and procedures and recommend and/or implement changes as appropriate to improve internal controls and efficienciesEnsure all accounting records are kept up to date within guidelines established by international financial reporting standardsAssist with internal and external auditor requirementsAssist in the preparation of the annual operating budgets for the residential portfolioUndertake ad hoc projects and other duties as assignedQualificationsRelevant University or College degree in business, accounting, or economicsCPA or working towards designation considered an asset1-3 years of accounting experienceIntermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelPrior property accounting experience considered an assetYardi (real-estate software) experience considered an assetBenefitsA competitive total rewards program that includes recognition for individual and corporate performancePaid vacationHealth, dental, and wellness benefitsCompany matched Employee Unit Purchase PlanA supportive and engaging working environmentSupport for career and professional developmentPosition is located outside the downtown core, is close to the LRT, and offers free parkingIf your background matches the qualifications listed above and you are looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the communities we serve, please submit your resume in confidence.
