Senior Clinical Manager, General Surgery Inpatient Unit (5B) We are currently looking for a Senior Clinical Manager to join the General Surgery Inpatient Unit, to manage complex clinical operations and provide leadership to a multi‑disciplinary team. Unit 5B is responsible for the inpatient care of General Surgery patients. As the Clinical Manager, you will act as a role model and coach to the clinical team through structured and supportive communication, professional development, and assistance with the achievement of the unit and hospital strategic goals. In this role, you will have the opportunity to take a long‑range view of operations and patient service delivery and act as a leader in implementing continuous process improvement. You will be responsible for collaborating in the development of the portfolio's annual operating plan, identifying trends, issues and risks. Here’s What You’ll Get To Do Works collaboratively with other Clinical Managers and leadership in the development and implementation of strategies to impact patient flow across the organization. In collaboration with the Clinical Operations Director, provides support to ensure that a comprehensive, integrated Quality, Safety and Process improvement management program is in place with clear performance indicators. Provides leadership in continually improving care delivery and other processes. Ensures that care complies with statutory regulations and accreditation guidelines. Contributes to the development and coaching of unit nursing and clerical staff, as key direct reporting groups. In collaboration with the Director, creates systems for patient flow and patient services to ensure access targets of hospital scorecard are met or exceeded and quality targets for care are met or exceeded. Uses data analytics to understand trends, operations, and plan for future strategies. Works with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive and quality care to patients and families. Partners with other clinical departments and stakeholders in planning for a post‑pandemic strategy, and contributes to the planning for surgical waitlist recovery. Here’s What You’ll Need Baccalaureate degree in a health‑related field. Master’s degree in a health‑related or business‑related field (or evidence of working towards) strongly preferred. 5+ years of health care experience in a related field. As a healthcare professional (e.g. nursing or any of the professional service disciplines) registration with the appropriate College is required. 2+ years of leadership experience. Demonstrated leadership roles in a complex clinical care setting is an asset. Demonstrated experience managing, coaching and developing others or large teams. Demonstrates strong analytical skills and utilization in an array of tools or platforms. Knowledge of budgeting processes and ability to analyze fiscal and patient care data. Awareness of program planning, standards development and program evaluation. A strong business acumen; general understanding of business principles and how they apply to the unit's operational needs. Collaborates and engages constructively with others. Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Advocates, motivates and influences others in order to gain their support and commitment. Able to understand and respond appropriately to the concerns of others. Demonstrates resilience in a range of complex and demanding situations. Commitment to interprofessional practice and lifelong learning. Ability to organize and prioritize own work and that of others. Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion objectives.
