Position Overview Status: Regular Full-Time Join us as the Category Manager – Food at The North West Company (TNWC). You will define category strategy, own the results, and drive category sales and profit growth through data‑driven decision‑making and innovation. Responsibilities Serve as the subject‑matter expert for the Food category and build plans around product, promotion and placement to drive financial performance. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to secure favorable terms, cost, quality and product for TNWC and customers. Engage with remote communities to develop customer‑centered business plans. Analyze market data and consumer behavior to identify performance‑driving opportunities. Develop advertising, in‑store specials and special buys with measurable objectives. Set and manage initial sales, gross‑profit and inventory forecasts used in the annual operating budget. Collaborate with Merchandising Services to monitor pricing and inventory levels that deliver category performance. Advise Operations on Category opportunities. Lead initiatives and manage the Category Assistant. Desired Skills & Experience Minimum 5 years’ experience in category management. Post‑secondary education (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree) in Commerce, Marketing or Supply Chain Management; experience may substitute for education. Experience leading and managing a small team. Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and financial analysis capabilities. Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects. Excellent interpersonal and management skills with attention to detail. Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to mentor and monitor performance. Location Gibraltar House – 77 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB. Reporting To Senior Category Manager, Category Management.
