Its better here.What can you expect in this roleReporting to the Property Underwriting Leader Property Underwriting Team Leader is responsible for the daily activities of a designated group of property underwriters. As the primary point of contact for the team the incumbent provides directions to team and maintains adequate staffing levels to ensure high service standards are met.The Property Underwriting Team Leader works closely with the Underwriting Manager to plan and execute company directives and goals. It is expected that the incumbent will actively underwrite policies and have a solid working understanding of department practices and broker relationships.ResponsibilitiesStaff Supervision and Training : (40%)Team coordination to ensure service level agreements are maintained and report results to the Underwriting Manager.Collaborate with other leaders and / or the Underwriting Manager to resolve any resource conflicts that affect internal or external service levels or project deadlines.Assist in the development of internal procedures and documentation as it relates to the Property product to ensure consistent practices and adequate internal control of departmentSupervise direct reports and consult with the Underwriting Manager if any concerns ariseEnsure that staff have an opportunity to participate in training events to enhance their developmentStaff Development and Evaluation : (30%)Proactively manage individual team member performance and productivity and take corrective action when necessary.Coach team members regularly to provide direction encourage development and assist with career progressionRecommend monitor and enforce binding authority limits for staffConduct quarterly performance reviews of team membersFacilitate team meetingsUnderwriting Operations : (30%)Respond to broker inquiries concerns or complaints on underwriting decisions as escalated by team members within established binding authorities and refer them to the manager as required.Ensure that the team members understand the underwriting objectives and ensure everyone is working towards the same goalCollaborate with Underwriters on risk selection striving to maintain consistent underwriting practices. Approve exceptions while ensuring that insurance policies are selected according to Familys guidelines and rated correctly and accurately on the POS system.Assist Underwriters to complete referrals when necessary due to volume or complexityProvide constructive feedback to the marketing department and the manager on training and broker issues as they ariseManage relationships with all brokers to develop stable and profitable books of businessParticipate in broker review processParticipate in special projects when requiredKeep abreast of changes in the marketplace : new products rates laws or regulations and recommend changes to products and processes as requiredContinue with professional developmentAttend industry functions or broker visits as required.What you bring to the roleExperience & Educational QualificationsTen or more years experience in personal insurance.Detailed knowledge of personal property and casualty insurance including risk analysis of home products. Knowledge of personal auto products is an asset.CIP or FCIP designation or post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experienceMust have a General Insurance Agent Level 2 License or be willing and eligible to obtain the license within the first 30 days of employmentPrior leadership experience is an assetStrong computer skills including Office 365.Ability to proactively solve problems and recommend solutions to issuesStrong ability to work independently as well as part of a teamAbility to interpret and effectively communicate complex informationStrong verbal and written communication skillsUnderstand insurance practices and principles current market trendsResults driven and customers focused.Actual salary for the role may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to skills education experience working conditions and the local labour addition to base pay eligible employees may participate in various incentive plans which are paid out at the companys discretion and subject to individual and company performance.We also take potential into consideration.
