We’re actively seeking a talented Director to join our Inforce Modeling team within the Enterprise Actuarial Modeling function. This role can be on-site, hybrid, or 100% remote. As a SME of Prophet Modeling, you’ll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by leading Prophet model development for Annuity products, with a focus on fixed annuity and institutional products. You will lead a team of 3 actuarial professionals and may work fully remote, with relocation assistance available if you prefer an office location. You will collaborate with Pricing, Valuation, ALM, Hedging and IT infrastructure teams to provide innovative modeling and reporting capabilities. How You’ll Help Move Us Forward Lead model development and be the modeling Subject Matter Expert for Immediate and Deferred Annuity products (FIA, FA, IA) as well as institutional products (Stable Value, PRT, HSA, FABN, DCLI). Perform model development and testing/debugging of Prophet models, peer review changes made by other team members and act as an internal Prophet expert for your colleagues. Proactively evaluate and recommend modeling strategies and potential approaches to find solutions that best address business needs. Lead model development initiatives that improve and expand existing models. Partner with IT and functional areas to develop simple, effective, and innovative solutions to simplify modeling processes. Provide training to model users to ease learning curve and further develop training materials, tools and templates based on the model risk management policy and standards. As the model liaison, educate model users on new model features developed and support related production implementation efforts through model deployment. Provide guidance and expertise to junior staff on methodology, model implementation, and testing/debugging to support modeling initiatives. Support and comply with all Model Risk Management initiatives, documentation, and standards. The Experience You Bring 8+ years’ actuarial experience, with in-depth product knowledge, as well as in modeling/programming/data science. Bachelor’s in actuarial science, computer science, finance, mathematics, or related field. Excited to work in a role that involves heavy use of Prophet in the context of pricing, valuation, projections, Hedging and ALM modeling. Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering collaboration and accountability to achieve organizational goals. Self-starter with ability to develop solutions by collaborating with multiple business partners. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and to manage long-term projects. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. What Makes You Stand Out Advanced knowledge and experience in Prophet. Experience with Annuity (VA, RILA, FA, FIA, etc.) products. Experience with Institutional (Stable Value, PRT, HSA, FABN, DCLI) products. Experience with ALM/Hedging. ASA/FSA/CFA designation. Excellent communication skills. Experience coding in Python, Visual Basic, and SQL. Experience working with Azure DevOps, JIRA, pipelines, and AWS. Base Pay Range The base pay range noted represents the company’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications and geographic location.
