Cronos’ diverse international brand portfolio includes Spinach®, PEACE NATURALS® and Lord Jones®.For more information about Cronos and its brands, please visit: https://thecronosgroup.com/This position is based out of Stayner, Ontario.What you’ll be doing:Planning and executing breeding program activities, including crossing, population advancement, and trial setupCollect, organize, and analyze phenotypic, chemotypic, and agronomic data from greenhouse and field evaluationsMaintain accurate and compliant records of breeding materials, crosses, and trial results in the ERP systemMonitor plant performance and health, supporting selection decisions based on data-driven criteriaCoordinate sampling and logistics for genotyping and other R&D analysesActively participate in breeding and R&D discussions and meetings, contributing observations and insightsPrepare technical reports, progress updates, and summaries of trial outcomesTrack and evaluate effectiveness of breeding strategies, helping determine next steps in the programPresent findings, program updates, and recommendations to peers and stakeholdersLead a team of Technicians, providing day-to-day direction, coaching, mentoring and performance oversightOther duties as required to support the organization and advancement of the breeding pipelineYou’ll need to have:B.Sc. degree or higher in Plant Science, Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Horticulture, or related field; equivalent experience in plant R&D or breeding programs will be consideredExperience in plant breeding, crop improvement, genetics, or applied agricultural R&D is an assetStrong attention to detail with ability to manage and interpret large sets of data5+ years’ experience in plant breeding and 7-10 years of overall experience3+ years’ experience in managing people and coordinating schedules and tasks to meet timelines requiredExcellent organizational skills to track materials, activities, and results across multiple breeding cyclesStrong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills to work effectively with cross-functional teamsProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with statistical software or ERP systems is an advantageAbility to work in greenhouse, field, and controlled-environment settings, sometimes under variable conditionsWe are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment, and we welcome and encourage applications from people with disabilities and people with diverse backgrounds, identities, and cultures.
